A look back... Kate and Tim's wedding at The Green in Cornwall.

A DIY, Button, Barn Wedding...

This lovely couple and their amazing wedding on the 10th of May 2014 at The Green Cornwall will always have a very special place in my heart.

Kate was the very first "future bride" to contact me to ask if I would be able to photograph her wedding.

I was both excited and terrified, to finally have the opportunity to take the first step In following my dream of becoming a wedding photographer.

As the moments of this day unfolded, I just knew that I was exactly where I belong: At a wedding with a camera.

Thank you so much to Kate and Tim for trusting me to capture the story of your wedding before I even had a wedding portfolio. Thank you for helping me to find my place in the world.

Just as importantly thank you for the stunning Hog Roast by Piglet Cottage who took care of the wedding catering and us.

Below are some of the moments of the day, followed by a conversation I had with Kate.

I recently reached out to Kate to ask a few questions...

How did you meet and fall in love?

we met at Alton Towers :-) through mutual friends, he drove me back to Plymouth, it took off from there...

Why did you choose The Green Cornwall?

I loved how it could be personalised, the views, the fact there was plenty of accommodation for my travelling guests. Having a 3 night block meant we could spend proper time with the people we loved, as well as each other.

The Inspiration behind your wedding?

We wanted something that reflected us, and that everyone could 'contribute' to. All my friends and family helped with making the button bouquets, my in laws made fair games, parents made bunting and signposts.

Favourite memories and moments of the day?

Sneaking off with my husband and watching everyone enjoy themselves :-)

What advice would you like to give to couples about planning the day and any advice about the day itself?

Research all the different ideas - and don't worry if things don't match as long as they make you happy to have them there! Something will most likely not go to plan, so delegate that to someone else :-)

What special details did you include in your wedding?

button bouquets, photos of loved ones who couldn't be there and my favourite books!

What resources did you use to find the perfect vendors and suppliers?

Pretty much Google hunting!

I love food and music! Let's talk about food and music?

My biggest concern was not eating, as I hate going to people's weddings and waiting for food :-) we had an ice cream trike, hog roast, creperie, and cake of cheese :-) We walked down the aisle to somewhere over the rainbow, danced to 'red right hand' and had a DJ and swing dance lessons later in the evening.

What kate thought about having me as her wedding photographer...

Why on earth did you ask me to be your wedding photographer? (especially without a wedding portfolio)

I liked your relaxed style and how people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Everything seemed very natural.

how would you describe your experience of working with me?

Easy! On such an eventful day you don't want to worry about organising everything and checking that things had been done, but as you were so organised before, visiting the venue and checking who we wanted photos of, the day itself went so smoothly!

What were your hesitations when it came to photography?

That it would be awkward having someone who didn't know us around. Also it's one of those things that you don't know exactly what you want, and you're worried about missing something, so the communication we received was very reassuring. Also - nothing was missed!

What was awesome?

Apart from the photos? (Which captured us at our best, and the happiness of the day) no uncomfortable poses and long waits, being able to ask for waft we wanted and making sure all the little touches that made our day were shown in the photos.

Was there anything that was not so awesome or could be improved?

Nope :-)

Would you recommend me to others and what would you say to someone who is thinking of working with me?

Well, my cousin is dragging you off 4 hours up north as she was so impressed :-) and all I would say is relax, you're in safe hands :-)
