If you are planning a wedding and you want it to be laid back, relaxed and super fun and you are looking for some cool ideas to keep your guests and yourselves entertained, then you are in the right place!
I am blessed to say that pretty much 100% of the couples who choose me as their Devon or Cornwall wedding photographer (or beyond) are laid back, non traditional and like to have a ton of fun on their wedding day. This means that not only do I have an absolute blast at weddings, but I also come away with loads of ideas and inspiration to be able to share with engaged couples like yourselves.
Below you will find plenty of fun entertainment ideas from my super fun couples. I advise you to get the kettle on, brew a nice tea, grab a pen and paper, pop your feet up and scroll through this post for ideas, links to some awesome wedding suppliers in Devon and Cornwall and links to some previous wedding day blog posts of super fun weddings so that you can get all giddy thinking about your wedding day and how fun it will be!
If you think you have plenty of confetti… double it… then double it again! - Get more than enough!
Shanna and Sam had so much confetti at their Bickley Mill wedding in Devon. This meant that everyone had the chance to have a ton of fun throwing it at them.
Confetti Cannons for the dancefloor!
Dancing in a shower of confetti looks amazing in the photos and feels amazing too by the way!
Book an excursion for you and all of your guests
Lealah and Adam had a boat ride (and a pasty) along the Plymouth sound during their wedding day at Ocean Studios and The Orangery at Mount Edgcumbe. What other activities or excursions could you have on your day?
live music between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast
Claire and Tim enjoyed the beautiful voice of Lottie Bolt in the afternoon at their wedding. Space Hoppers came in handy as seats when they were not being used for races.
Hire a Magician
Becca and Lee Hired Dan Brazier to blow their minds at Their super fun wedding at The Headland Hotel in Torquay.
Little snacks like popcorn, candy floss and ice cream keep tummies happy.
Bucking Bronco (or in this case… a sheep)
Christina and Lee had a bucking sheep tournament. Whoever stayed on the longest would become the proud new owner of a fluffy sheep toy.
Christina and Lee also had a bouncy castle! This kept the fun flowing for everyone all day long! Both the bucking sheep and the bouncy castle were provided by Mane Events.
Take a little road trip to your nearest beach
Lisa and Paul had a beautiful laid back elopement at The Cow Shed and they made most of the fact that there are some stunning beaches near their venue. We all hopped in the Webb Family Mini Copper (sally) and took a 10 min drive to portwrinkle Beach. Why not take a little trip to the beach, have a picnic, paddle and play some games on your wedding day?
The Beer Pong table was a huge hit at Jackie and Mark’s awesome wedding at The Bickley Mill Inn
Games on the tables
You might be thinking. Yep, all of these fun things are great, but what if it rains? Laura and Gavin kept the fun flowing at their rainy day wedding at Trevenna Barns by having a different game on every table. From football to the classic screwball scramble. Every guest had a blast and didn’t care that they couldn’t get outside.

Be prepared for (and actually embrace) the rain
If you are getting married in the uk, chances are about 50/50 that it’s going to rain. Even in the summer! Why not mentally and physically prep for rain (brollys, wellies, blankets, jackets) and even expect it to rain leading up to the day. That way if it rains, you and your guests can enjoy it because you are prepared (like Lauren and Jon having a brolly fight - above) and then if the sun does come out on the day it’s actually a bonus and something to celebrate. Lauren and Jon had the best of both worlds on their PIZZA wedding at Mamma J’s in Looe and were lucky enough to see rainbows because they ventured out to the beach in the rain.
Fancy Dress and funny props
This will keep any non boozers (and your photographer if that photographer happens to be me) entertained and watered during the day. Having unlimited tea and coffee is pure genius.
Plenty of Booze
Props for the Dancefloor

Get a game of rounders going
Lucy and Nick had a super fun back garden and yurt wedding. If you want lots of inspiration from one of the most laid back weddings (and best parties) I’ve ever been to, then click the link.
Hire a fun wedding photographer
I only took Becky and Chris (pictured above) away for 15 to 20 mins for their couple photos. As they wanted to get back to their amazing party (rightfully so). I even encouraged Chris to bring his drink! and their photos were more of an excuse to take a small break, catch up and take it all in than an actual “photo shoot”.
If you want a super fun wedding day (and more importantly time for having fun on your wedding day) Then I feel you would be suited to a wedding photographer who spends more time photographing the natural moments of the day rather than spending lots of time heavily posing and setting everything up so that each photo looks perfect. Look for a photographer that shows lots of natural moments on their website and uses words such as natural, real, laid back, relaxed, fun and documentary (eh hem… like me) to describe their style. If they are a photographer that takes loads of time setting things up and wants a huge list of group photos from you then they might not be the best fit for you. The staged and set up photos take up so much valuable time that you could spend having fun. Speaking of group photos. Here’s a post on scrapping group photos all together (or at least not having many) so that you have more time for fun on your wedding day.
Let your Hair Down!
This is more of a mindset and attitude rather than something to book. But I think it could be the most important thing that I mention here. Sain and Jon just had this incredible fun loving and care free spirit on their wedding day at Restronguet Barton farm. This actually allowed everyone to see this, feel the fun energy and let their hair down too. Everyone felt the good vibes coming from the couple and felt comfortable having incredible amounts of fun (especially on the dancefloor)
Having a carefree attitude and not sweating the small stuff (which happens to be the most common advice my couples give to other couples) will certainly help your day be fun from start to finish. So don’t worry if something doesn’t go to plan, if you cant afford to book all of the fun things that you would like, if the weather is crap or if things are running late. Your day will still be incredible if you just let your hair down, choose happy and have a blast!
What are your thoughts?
