A Lakeside Wedding at Cornish Tipi Weddings
Georgia and Colin had a super chilled and relaxed day the the INCREDIBLE Cornish Tipi Weddings!
Message to the universe… Universe? can I please photograph more weddings at Cornish Tipis? and can I please photograph more couples like this pair?… Thanks mate!
Georgia and Colin are amazing. They put their full trust in me to just do my thing and let them (and document them) do theirs.
Unfortunately, I felt like absolute death on the day. G and C were so understanding and caring - Side note, so was kim (the wedding coordinator) and everyone else at the venue. I felt so looked after so THANK YOU all so much!
It's crazy how simplicity can work its magic. Imagine this: a stunning lakeside ceremony bathed in just the right amount of sunshine (although, let's be honest, we were all up for a little dance in the rain), scrumptious food, flowing drinks, and a whirlwind of unforgettable moments with a tight-knit circle of friends and family. Oh, and let's not forget the tower of PIZZA and the cozy evening by the crackling fire. PERFECT!
Check out the photos below — they're like a time machine that whisks you right back to this epic day. Honestly, it still blows my mind that this is actually my job. A massive shoutout to Georgia and Colin — you two are the best! I'm so excited to share these moments with you!
Your story of how you met, your proposal story and your journey as a couple up until the wedding?:
We met in college during a history class and a week later, we were already a couple. We spent the next two years finishing up college and spending as much time together as we could. After Colin's first year of uni, we made the decision to get engaged. The proposal was nothing fancy, nothing public, but very us. Colin proposed in our room after a lovely evening. We then continued spending as much time together as we could despite long distance as Colin finished up his degree and Georgia completed her apprenticeship in upholstery.
What was stressful about the planning of the wedding and specifically what was stressful in relation to photography?:
The sheer volume of planning required was stressful, especially given neither of the two of us are particularly big planners. We like to go with the flow. When it comes to photography, there was nothing particularly stressful. Jamie made it an easy choice of which photographer to pick, and helped us sort out photos with minimal stress.
What do you wish someone had told you before the day or during the planning that would have made a big difference?
Georgia says to elope rather than have a standard wedding. Do what you want to do in relation to planning - it's your day, who cares what other people want? Also, make sure you set time apart for you as a couple to spend time together, as it's easy to feel that by the end of your week. you've seen your partner less, as you've spent so much time with other people.
what was your favourite part of your wedding?:
The ceremony was lovely. It felt so us, and went well. We loved the readings we picked, we loved the location, we loved the weather. It was just fantastic.
Your favourite story/s from the day - The one/s that you will tell when you are really really old:
10 men trying to put up a one person tent.
Why did you choose to get married at Cornish Tipi Weddings?
We loved the secluded, off-the-grid vibe. No signal meant no one was getting distracted by phones. We also loved the lake - it was great for photos and also for entertaining the children.
What personal touches did you add to your day?
We both wore outfits which were very us, we also didn't have a strict timeline. The general relaxed vibe just worked so well for us.
What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding?
Just do what's gonna make you happy on the day - don't stress too much as everything will work out in the end. Always accept help, and feel free to delegate tasks to each other, and to others when organising the day. Our day went so well in part because we had so many people who wanted to help.
I love food, music and entertainment They are the some of the best things about weddings! - What food did you have, was it yummy and what did you have to entertain yourselves and your guests?
We had afternoon tea, some small canapes, but most importantly, PIZZA! We also had a cheeseboard-cake and something for everyone. The food was good, and even better was the fact that there was so much of it. As for entertainment, we mainly just left people to entertain themselves. The kids spent the whole day in the lake, and even the adults got involved. For the evening we just had a bonfire and played some chill music, while roasting marshmallows. It was great and everything we wanted.
A Shoutout to your wedding suppliers:
Georgia's dress was made by a shop in Brighton, called Dig for Victory - https://www.digforvictoryclothing.com/ - They were amazing and I had the opportunity to design my own dress. I loved it so much and it was perfect.
The Angry Anchovy in Port Isaac delivered the pizza, and it was great - https://www.theangryanchovy.co.uk/
The Gastropod Cafe sorted out the afternoon tea and canapes and it was beautiful - https://www.gastropodcafe.co.uk/
The rest of the stuff was all DIY or done by the venue staff, but we did all out own flowers, table decorations, and even made the wedding arch ourselves.
Why did you choose Jamie Webb as your photographer and what was it like working with Jamie on the day?
We loved the chill vibe, and his natural photography style. We like the candid photos and there was minimal posing. Obviously this is customizable, but he adapted it to what we wanted. We liked that you can add on extra time, and he stayed right until the end. On the day, Jamie was an absolute trooper, not only staying despite feeling under the weather, but maintaining a happy attitude and making sure to still capture every minute. We are delighted to have had Jamie and would definitely hire him again and recommend others to do the same.
Is there anything else that you would like to add?:
We would recommend waking up together on the wedding day and trying to stick together as much as possible - weddings are about the two of you, and why abandon that on the day? To be honest, just pick a great venue, and if you invite people, make sure you have helpful groomsmen and bridesmaids, who can help take some stress off.
