Laughter, love and Lego... Jo and Scott, wedding at the passage house hotel

Two of our most loveliest friends (Jo and Scott) got married at The Passage House Hotel on saturday, and It was epic! The day was full of Laughter, Love and Lego. All topped of with a  1950s vibe. Splendid!

Many many, many, many ect. moments stood out to me. One that I would love to share was Jonathan's (father of the bride) speech. He very slowly and seriously spoke the lyrics of the fresh prince of bel air. This was hilarious! especially as he had already recited the sorting hat scene from Harry Potter during his reading at the church. Top Dad points go to Jonathan!

Being Jo and Scott's photographer was a complete honour (as our friendship with Jo goes back about 15 years) but first and foremost, being a guest and a friend at this wedding was an even bigger honour. Plus it meant that I could have double helpings of the buffet without feeling as guilty as usual.

To Mr and Mrs Pocknell, Congratulations! We have so much love for you and your beautiful children and we could not be more happy for you!

Here is what Jo had to say about her amazing wedding day:

let's hear the story of how you met and fell in love?

Me and Scott first met whilst working for a nationwide retailer, at the time I had been working there for about 8 years when Scott got transferred to our store as a department manager. I fancied him straight away! Funnily our senior manager had told me about Scott and made a joke that I need to leave him alone and not flirt with him! Clearly I didn't listen and the rest is history!

Tell us all about the proposal?

Everyone that knows myself and Scott as a couple knows that we haven't had the easiest time in our relationship, we've faced and overcome lots of challenges and family loss, in 2013 whilst on a Christmas shopping weekend in Bristol Scott told me that no matter what happens or has happened in life he never wants to lose me and then asked me to marry him. I said yes.

What wedding venue did you choose and why?

We had our wedding ceremony in St. John the apostle church, this is a very special place to me as it's the church my family was brought up in and where all our christenings and funeral have taken place.
We chose the passage house hotel for the reception venue for its beautiful surroundings and location as well as the lovely food and staff.

What was the Inspiration behind your wedding?

We chose bright red and aqua blue as the colour scheme for the wedding along side a sort of 1950's vintage British summer theme, I thought it looked like a really fun colour combination, and thought it looked fabulous with the theme too.

What are your favourite memories/moments that you think of when you remember your day?

We honestly had the perfect day and it went even better than expected which makes it hard to choose my favourite memory, but the part of the day I will remember forever was walking down the aisle towards Scott and seeing each other for the first time on the day.

What advice would you like to give to couples about planning their wedding and any wedding day advice?

Don't sweat the small stuff when planning, it will come together on the day.
When you're walking down the aisle look straight at your new husband, trust me you won't regret it.
Take each moment as it comes on the day don't try and rush ahead because before you know it the day is done.

What special details did you include in your wedding?

As a family we are big on Lego so we had to add this into our special day! We filled big bowls of Lego as our centrepieces for everyone to make there own centrepieces which was a big hit with the children as well as the adults! We used Lego minifigures as place card holder favours. Our stunning cake also included some very special Lego too.

What resources did you use to find the perfect vendors and suppliers?

Facebook has been an excellent tool for helping me plan the wedding, I was able to research and find our fantastic DJ with the help of recommendations, most of the inspiration for the day I found using Pinterest though.

I love food and music! Let's talk about food and music?

I thought the food was excellent served by the passage house hotel, we provided a set 3 course meal and a huge hit buffet for the evening as well as our 4 flavoured tiered wedding cake.
For our first dance we had can't help falling in love, an Elvis cover performed by 21 pilots, another special song we requested to end the evening was good riddance (time of your life) by green day.

Why on earth did you choose Webb Family Photography as your wedding photographer?

Jamie and his wife Sam are close family friends of ours as well as their wonderful children, but that isn't the reason we decided to hire Webb family photography as our photographer, we have every confidence in Jamie's work, he takes natural shots that truly capture the emotions of the people he's photographing which to me is really important for such an emotional and important day.

Some of my highlights of the day...

Jo and scott chose me to capture their wedding day. Even though they have seen me at my worst and they know about my guilty pleasure (not the spice girls! the other one) I think it was because of my relaxed and real approach.
